Story Starters for Your Own Hero's Journey:
1) The hero lives on an island in the Aegean Sea. One day a dragon arrives and decides to build its nest in the middle of their city-state, on top of the acropolis. The citizens must evacuate their homes and rebuild their city-state on the other side of the island. Before they evacuate, the hero sneaks into the dragon's nest and steals an egg. Later the egg hatches and they raise the baby dragon in secrecy. Will the hero accept the call to adventure and use their pet dragon to roust the mama dragon from the acropolis so that the citizens may return to their homes?
2) Your hero lives with their father in a small village in the Athenian countryside. They have no knowledge of their mother (whose identity has always been a mystery). When troublesome monsters begin invading the village, kidnapping all of the daughters. The hero's father reveals that their mother is the goddess, Aphrodite. He explains that the monsters are looking for the "daughter of Aphrodite" who possesses a secret ability that they wish to use for their evil purposes. Only Aphrodite can help the hero discover and hone their ability and protect the world from the invasion of monsters. Will the hero accept the call to adventure?
3) Your hero lives in a small town near New York City. They live an ordinary life, with one exception: They are allergic to donuts. A strange company, Donut Craze, begins buying up all of the properties in town and building restaurants. None of the town's residents can resist the donuts and its having strange effects on their health. What will the hero do?
