Class #13 - Your Group's Name & Logo

LT: I can utilize the elements of graphic design to create a logo.

Today, each group will decide on their news network's name.
The group will work together to create a logo that they will use in their upcoming video. 

DO NOW: What do you notice about these logos? What observations can you make?
(Write your responses on your DO NOW sheet)
Examine these well-known news network logos. What do you notice about these logos? What elements do they utilize to create a striking logo?
EXAMPLES: Let's watch some examples of special reports about hurricanes. What do you notice about their use of a logo?

Activity Steps
  1. LOCATION: Pick the location of your news network (this should be a city that was heavily impacted by the storm). HINT: Refer to your storm's track.
  2. IDEAS: As a group, generate a list of ideas for names. Remember, the name should have a significance (meaning).
  3. DECISION: Vote for the top three names. Then, using consensus building, decide on a final name.
  4. SKETCH: Begin sketching ideas for the logo.
  5. CONCLUSION: Present the ideas to the rest of the group.
