Lesson #12 - Research Share-Out

Good morning meterologists and storm researchers! Today we will add a 2nd round of information to our posters and then share out our information with other groups in the class. The class will conclude with a reflection.

Adding to the Research Poster - 2nd Round (25 Mins)
  1. Students share the information from their 2nd source.
  2. Take turns (in a circular fashion) sharing the information you gathered from your source.
  3. As each person shares, add that information to the correct section of the poster.
  4. Repeat this process until all information has been added. Check your notes, as your teammates share. If you have the same information, put a star next to it. This is important to notice.

Research Share-Out (40 Mins)
1) Groups meet and present their work to 1-2 other groups. Pick one table to gather around (move your chairs to the spot).
2) One group presents and reads through the information on their poster (all members involved in presentation)
3) The other group(s) responds:
  1. What information has this group found about their storm (what categories and types)?
  2. What information is still missing?
  3. What questions does this work raise? What do you wonder or want to know about their storm?

Conclusion (8 mins)
Exit Slip (Reflection)
On a half-sheet of paper, each student responds to these prompts:
  • What have you (as an individual) done really well in your hurricane research?
  • What has surprised you most during the research of your hurricane?
  • What has been the most challenging part of the hurricane research?
  • What further information does your group need to finalize the research?
