Class #26 - Movie Selections & Portfolio Organization

STEP 1:
DO NOW: Pick a significant moment from your February vacation. Describe it in detail. Why was this moment important? What happened? (Reminder: We'll read our DO NOWs aloud in class.)

STEP 2:
Hero's Journey Movie Selection
As you've heard, on Friday all Windsor 6 students will be watching one of four movies that follow the stages of the Hero's Journey. Each student will create a storyboard explaining the stages and archetypes. This will be an assessment for both LA and Social Studies.

Star Wars
Luke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a wookiee and two droids to save the universe from the Empire's world-destroying battle-station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the evil Darth Vader.

Wizard of Oz
Dorothy Gale is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a quest to see the Wizard who can help her return home.

Mulan
To save her father from death in the army, a young maiden secretly goes in his place and becomes one of China's greatest heroines in the process.

The Lion King
Lion cub and future king Simba tests his limits, supported by his family, but sometimes gets in over his head.


STEP 3:
Class Business
  1. Pass back work
    • Artifacts to be placed in portfolio (on cork board)
    • Each student receives a folder for their work
    • Folders placed in basket (front table)
  2. Work on Jason/Golden Fleece Storyboards
  3. Work on any missing/late work for Social Studies
  4. Early Finishers: Create an additional storyboard using https://www.storyboardthat.com/classroom
