Class #8 - Continuing Research

Today's Learning Targets:
A) I can locate a relevant and reliable source for my hurricane research.
B) I can determine the environmental, economic and human impacts of my hurricane.

Step 1: DO NOW
Imagine you are researching the environmental impacts of Hurricane Katrina. Examine these two sources. Click on the links below.


Which source is the most relevant and reliable?
Try these sentence starters to help you structure your response:
  • “Source #________ is the most relevant because…..”
  • “It is the most reliable because…..”

Step 2: Continue Research
You can use one of the handouts or write your notes in a digital document.


  1. Locate a relevant and reliable source.
  2. Print the source.
  3. Read and color code environmental, economic and human impacts.
  4. Complete a graphic organizer. Take a handout or use this Google doc.
  5. Done early? Find another source. Go for an exceeds!

    You should make it a rule that if you call somebody not their name 5 times, (and the person WILL keep track,) that you have to write them a pass for a free snack.
